Evolute Workshop

Freeform facades, from design to production

An overview of the complete geometry consultant workflow
March 15th - 17th, 2017 - Vienna

Description

Description

This workshop will allow participants to gain insights into the workflow of a typical freeform facade design project at Evolute. We will convert a freeform facade from an architect’s design to the production data and drawing output needed by manufacturers for production of panels. The workshop will touch upon the following steps:

step1
Optimization and refinement of the panelisation pattern

Creation of an optimized facade panelisation pattern based on architectural input, using techniques such as mesh parametrization, subdivision mesh modelling and optimization.

step2
Manufacturing techniques

Manufacturing techniques used for curved facade panels (glass, metal, GRC, GRP) and their geometric limitations.

step3
Curved panel simplification

Simplification of double curved panels by replacing them with flat, cold-bent, or cylindrical panels, within acceptable tolerance.

step4
Clustering

Reduction of panel production cost by clustering similar panels within acceptable tolerance.

step5
Production drawings and data

Automated output of drawings and production data for flat and cylindrical IGUs, beams, metal profiles, and other facade elements.

The participants will have the chance to solve problems using their own experience and skills. Evolute will also provide an introduction to its software suite and show how to use it in the context of a real-life project. A one-year licence for EvoluteTools PRO, D.LOFT, T.MAP will be offered complimentary to all the participants.
